Privacy Policy

The short version: Your questions, voice recordings, and chat history stay on your phone. We don't sell your data. We don't track you. Your manual is processed once in the cloud, then deleted from our servers.

1. What stays on your device

Fixby runs an on-device AI model. The following data is created and stored entirely on your phone and never transmitted to any server:

  • Conversations — all questions you ask and answers Fixby provides
  • Voice recordings — speech-to-text runs on-device; audio is never uploaded
  • Chat history — stored locally, deleted when you remove an appliance or your account
  • AI model — downloaded once, runs locally

2. What leaves your device (and when)

Manual processing (one-time)

When you add an appliance, your manual PDF is uploaded to our servers for one-time processing by a cloud AI model. This processing extracts structured data (maintenance schedules, error codes, specs, safety warnings) that the on-device model uses to answer your questions accurately.

  • The original PDF is deleted from our servers within 24 hours of processing
  • The extracted structured data (the "bundle") is stored so we can deliver it to your device
  • If another user uploads the same manual (matched by content hash), we reuse the existing bundle — this avoids redundant processing, not data sharing

Authentication

Fixby uses Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In. We receive and store:

  • A unique user identifier (opaque ID from Apple/Google)
  • Your email address (if you choose to share it)

We use this solely to associate your purchases and appliance list with your account.

Purchases

In-app purchases are handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We store a purchase receipt to verify your entitlements. We do not process or store payment card details.

3. What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties
  • We do not serve advertisements
  • We do not use analytics or tracking SDKs
  • We do not collect device identifiers, location data, or browsing history
  • We do not use your data to train AI models

4. Data retention

On-device data is retained until you delete it (by removing an appliance or deleting your account). Server-side data:

  • Account data — retained while your account is active; deleted within 30 days of account deletion
  • Manual bundles — retained as long as at least one user has the appliance registered; orphaned bundles are purged periodically
  • Purchase receipts — retained as required by applicable tax and financial regulations

5. Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings > Account > Delete Account in the app. If you cannot access the app, email support@fixby.app from the email associated with your account. See our account deletion page for full details.

6. Children's privacy

Fixby is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email. Continued use of Fixby after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
